An overview over the connection between the problems of determining polynomials with small leading coefficients and all roots in an interval and the various transfinite diameters of an interval through the definition of a spectrum for the interval.

An overview of cryptography, covering the simple Cesar (Shift), Affine, Substitution and Vigenere Cyphers, as well as Hill Cyphers and RSA encryption. Where possible, techniques for breaking the various cyphers are given.
